About 15 to 20 emergency services staff from the Echuca CFA, Echuca Village Fire Brigade, Bamawm extension, and Echuca Moama Search and Rescue assisted at the scene.
Echuca CFA incident controller Col Munro said the boat was already “fairly well destroyed,” by the time they arrived, which meant it only took just over an hour to extinguish the fire.
The incident proved challenging for emergency services who could not access the location by vehicle and had to walk more than 400 metres to find the boat.
Due to these access issues, the fire had to be extinguished by use of the Echuca Moama Search and Rescue boat and some portable water pumps.
The cause of the fire was yet unknown, but Mr Munro said they would be looking into all possibilities, including mechanical issues or fuel faults.
The owner of the boat has not been identified.
Mr Munro said a significant amount of time was spent finding the boat as they were only told a vague location.
He said individuals should download the Emergency+ app, which provides emergency services with a precise pinpoint location as to where an incident had occurred.
“It’s a really simple way of giving a location and it can make a critical difference,” Mr Munro said.
