At its annual general meeting on Tuesday, November 24 the club announced it had managed to stay in the black despite having to close for a period of 10 weeks from March 23 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was also revealed more than $670,000 had been committed to local clubs and community groups in the past financial year.
In a well-attended meeting, MBC chief executive Paul Barnes thanked the community and board who had “stuck together” during a tough year.
Mr Barnes also informed members plans for the club’s new accommodation precinct were still moving ahead despite the challenges faced this year.
In 2018, MBC announced plans for a 64-room resort style facility which included pools, gym and an additional café.
Meanwhile, in a boost to members, the club also announced bowlers would have $25 worth of points added to their membership to thank them for their continued support during the pandemic.
On the night, three board positions were declared vacant but Dennis King, Norm White and Stuart Sutton were re-elected for a three-year term.
Lindsay Rankin was again nominated as the president with Brett Thompon and Haydn O’Neale vice-presidents.
Peter Pavone was awarded a life membership after a distinguished bowls career.
