The rampaging Murray Bombers remain perfect for the year and are in pole position to regain the flag they last won in 2022.
“We’ve battled a bit during the year at times with numbers with injuries and guys away, but they’ve been really good to stick it out and win every game, which is never easy,” said coach Troy Murphy.
Echuca as a club has been synonymous with success in recent years and Murphy believes that fact has provided a huge benefit to his side throughout the year.
“The seniors, reserves and thirds all try and play the same style, so we train together, and it does make it a lot easier,” he said.
“I always say to the boys, you train with the best side in the GV, and in all the competitive stuff, they hold their own.
“I think it does give them a lot of confidence that they can run with them and go with them.”
Local rivals Rochester will be the assignment for Echuca in the grand final.
The Murray Bombers have grown more confident against the Tigers throughout the season, growing their winning margin in each of the three meetings.
But Echuca isn’t taking Rochy lightly with the premiership on the line.
“They’re as good a team as you’ll find in the twos so they deserve it, but we’re definitely going to embrace the challenge and go from there,” Murphy said.
“Our boys, I’m sure, won’t be overawed. They’ve had the strain on them during the year and so far stood up, so hopefully we can get the job done on Sunday.”
Echuca and Rochester will battle for the reserves premiership at Deakin Reserve in Shepparton on Sunday. First bounce is scheduled for 11.55am.
