Police are investigating a car theft from Kyabram car dealership, Albion Motors.
Kyabram police Leading Senior Constable Damien Duggan said that a 2019 burgundy four-wheel drive Toyota Landcruiser was stolen from Albion Motors at 5am on Thursday, August 1.
The Landcruiser, which was for sale at the car dealership, was valued at about $90,000, according to Albion Motors owner Ian Issac.
Mr Isaac was “disappointed” that this had happened.
“The car was targeted,” Mr Isaac said.
He said that someone was meant to come and look at the car that morning, but when he got to the dealership, there was only broken glass where the car had been and the back gate which looked to be rammed.
CCTV footage from outside Albion Motors showed two people inside the fenced car yard at about 3am.
The pair appeared to break a window before attempting to start the car.
About 5am ‒ two hours after the pair had entered the car yard ‒ the Landcruiser was started and driven through the back entrance of the car yard, Mr Isaac said.
“I’m more worried for future cars,” he said.
“If they’ve got the technology to get in that car, what’s the reason they can’t come back in a month’s time.”
Mr Isaac said that while insurance will cover the cost of the stolen Landcruiser, the excess would leave them in a pinch.
The police investigation is ongoing.
Leading Sen Constable Duggan said if anyone was around the Albion St area at 5am or has seen a burgundy Toyota Landcruiser should call Kyabram Police Station on 5853 1777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au
