Cricket Australia (CA) has ticked a request from the Victorians asking for their first game against NSW to be rescheduled.
It comes after the game was to be two days after Murphy and his teammates would emerge from quarantine.
Cricket Victoria cited the workload on their fast bowlers as the reason for the request.
Victoria will now play both their games against the Blues following the Big Bash League break over the Christmas period.
“The adjusted Marsh Sheffield Shield round two fixture has been designed to increase competitive balance among all teams and considers the health and safety of all participating players,” CA high performance chief Drew Ginn said.
Cricket Shepparton to launch a modified competition
THE latest craze of limited-over cricket is close to landing on a cricket oval near you this summer.
Cricket Shepparton revealed last week its intentions to start two 100-ball competitions — similar to that of the English County cricket’s “The Hundred” format.
The association hopes to gain enough interest for two competitions, an open-age and over-40s, which would be played during the week at night.
If the competitions get the green light, it’s expected they would kick-off in December and finish in February.
Cricket Shepparton president David D’Elia said the association had already received interest since last week’s announcement.
“We’ve already had a number of people and clubs express their interests,” D’Elia said.
“Hopefully we get a few more and get it up and running. It’s a terrific opportunity for people who haven’t got a lot of time on their hands to have a hit with their mates and have a bit of fun.
“We just want to have a go and see if it gains traction. There is nothing to lose.”
