But confusion continues to rein over Echuca's main venue for the sport.
Echuca Lawn Tennis Club remains in the dark over the future of multiple tennis courts at their Victoria Park site.
The club originally had 17 tennis courts, but lost six as part of the Echuca-Moama Bridge Project.
While the six courts have remained in use in prior seasons, the courts were removed as part of the project earlier this year.
Echuca-Moama Bridge project director Bill Bloodworth said in May an appropriate site for replacement courts had been identified to the north-east of the existing courts, and a project manager was in place, but did not give a time frame for their construction.
Now, some six months later, the club remains in the dark about the future.
Echuca Lawn president Brian Gledhill said the club was still awaiting information.
“We're a long way from getting the new courts,” he said.
“Our biggest problem remains that between Echuca South and Echuca Lawn there are 16 junior teams and only 11 courts.
“There is a project manager in place who is working on things, but there hasn't been enough progress there. It's still a real concern of ours.”
Gledhill said with the season now underway, big changes needed to be made in order for the tennis schedule to run successfully.
“We are still looking at a number of different options,” he said.
“It may be a case of running some games on a Friday night and others on Saturday, whatever it takes in order to get through the games.
“But it's unfortunate that we are in a position where we may not be able to have everyone playing together at the same time, and we can only hope we will be able to fix the issue soon.”
Major Road Projects Victoria, who are in charge of the bridge project, were contacted for comment.
