Last season’s minor premiers, Hurley’s Hotel Hounds, did not waste any time in the off-season constructing what looks a formidable outfit.
There’s little doubt the team will be intent on revenge this season, after falling short in the final against the SRP Mud Dogs two years running.
The Hounds snagged Rochester’s Angus Martin at pick three of the GVBBL draft, with the gun bowler enjoying terrific form in Goulburn Murray Cricket A-grade so far this season.
The team’s 2021 captain Jedd Wright will return for another season with the Hounds on the back of some slick performances in Haisman Shield action for Katandra.
The all-rounder’s efforts have been vital for the Eagles, keeping them in the hunt with 12 wickets and 188 runs to his name.
The Hounds have notably acquired the services of Greenvale Kangaroos batter Jack Potticary — an import from the United Kingdom.
He’ll be joined by a familiar face in ex-Tatura and Kangaroos all-rounder Michael Archer, who returns for another season.
Kyabram heavy-hitter Kyle Mueller has also been retained, with the Hounds’ brains-trust hoping the Redbacks skipper can transition his impeccable Haisman form to the Twenty20 format this season.
Mueller has been nothing short of unstoppable with the bat in red ball cricket this season, leading the charge for Kyabram with 328 runs at a whopping average of 65.60.
Adam Ward from Huntly North Epsom and Rochester slasher Dylan Cuttriss round out the Hounds’ retained list, both returning to the side in sizzling form.
