Echuca has been crowned premier in the division one midweek pennant competition, clinching a thrilling contest against Moama at Rochester Bowls Club to claim the title.

The enthralling match went right down to the wire, as the two teams traded blows until Echuca eventually prevailed to take the contest by two shots, 57 to 55.
Skips Ian Page and Kerryn Evans claimed wins in their rinks for Echuca, with Page guiding his quartet to a mammoth 27-14 win in his rink over Moama counterpart Denise Pappin, while Evans’ rink was victorious 19-15 in what proved to be the closest encounter of the day.
Robert Wastell earned Moama its sole success for the day, skipping his rink to a big 26-11 triumph over Echuca skip Roma Opie, with the 15-shot victory the biggest winning margin of any rink.
The win completes a brilliant finals campaign for Echuca, who also defeated the highly-fancied Moama in the semi-final by 23 shots to firstly qualify for the grand final, having not beaten it throughout the regular season.
