The three-day event is scheduled to run from October 27 to 29, with all proceeds going to a local organisation that directly aids youth in need.
Set amidst the Broken Creek Bush Camp near Benalla, about 50 kilometres from Shepparton, this camping experience is about more than just the great outdoors.
At the heart of the event is its purpose – raising funds for local charity Giz A Break.
Founded in 2019, Giz A Break has been instrumental in promoting mental and physical wellbeing among youth, primarily targeting those facing challenges in education, mental health, or at the brink of encountering the justice system.
The charity provides off-road touring experiences as a form of early intervention, offering young people a much-needed break from their routines and challenges.
“The Great Big Camp Out is about enjoying the outdoors and getting together with friends while supporting fantastic causes,” Rotarian and event committee member Roy Hill said.
Giz A Break co-founder Sönke Tremper thanked the club for their support.
“As a grassroots organisation, community support has been vital in enabling us to operate,” he said.
“The support from our local community has been remarkable, and we’re thrilled with the generous support from Shepparton Central Rotary Club in putting this event together.”
The venue promises a comfortable and enjoyable stay for those planning to attend.
Broken Creek Bush Camp accommodates various camping needs, from caravans and RVs to tents, with amenities like a fully equipped camp kitchen with an open fire, a barbecue, and a pizza oven.
Basic facilities such as showers, toilets, and phone reception will also ensure a comfortable camping experience.
The weekend promises to be entertaining, with a working farm dog performance and a talent night scheduled for Saturday.
Ticket prices include breakfast, evening meals, and complimentary barista coffee and tea.
