After the success of last year’s smashing return to pre-pandemic attendance levels, the Winter Blues is set to bring the best blues music from all over Australia to Echuca Moama for many more years to come.
“2023 was the best year we have had in a long time, the response to the program was really great,” Echuca Moama Winter Blues Festival programmer Jon Howell said.
“We had some fantastic artists and the attendance was way up.
“The Winter Blues Festival is so important for locals to feel it is their event because it was set up 25 years ago, is going into its 25th year this year, to benefit the community, that is why it happens.”
The Winter Blues is perhaps Australia’s most affordable festival weekend, with entry to all venues remaining free of charge across the four days.
“We are delighted to announce the first round of artists for 2024 with a list containing some festival favourites and new artists to discover,” Howell said.
“There’s something for the die-hard blues fans, but also music perfect to accompany a relaxing weekend with a few drinks, good food, and good friends.
“The fact you don’t have to pay to see any of the artists performing means you can visit and control your budget, which I think in this day and age, particularly right now, is super important.
“Once again, we will be featuring the best blues artists from all over Australia, and as always, we will emphasise Victorian artists.
“Victoria has one of the most healthy blues music scenes. We think the Melbourne blues scene is amazing.
“We regularly have artists who are represented all around the world at things like the Memphis Blues Challenge at the festival.”
A Winter Blues favourite, 19-Twenty will be back whipping up a frenzy with their infectious riff and blue-billy-grass rockin’ roots music.
Others announced in the first round include Lady Valiant, Jungle Jim Smith, The Honey Badgers, Geoff Achison & The Souldiggers, and many more acts.
Echuca Moama Winter Blues Festival runs from July 25 to July 28.
