Greg Williams, Marc Murphy and Andrew Walker will be part of a panel discussion talking football, fun times and fond memories.
Rich River Golf Club chief executive Shane Gloury said the footballers would be talking with host and comedian Marty Fields about their careers, their more memorable games and the characters they have known.
“A big part of the night will be the silent auction, major raffle and auction, which includes some incredible items of memorabilia, footy items including Medallion Club tickets and, of course, golf packages to some of the top courses in Australia,” he said.
“And the Carlton stars will certainly add to this.
“Greg Williams, a superstar at Sydney and Geelong as well as Carlton, is a dual Brownlow Medallist, an AFL Hall of Famer and in the AFL Team of the Century.
“Marc Murphy, the long-time Carlton captain, was a football sensation from the word go, when he was number one pick in the AFL draft, and would go on to play 300 games for the Blues.
“And Andrew Walker, the homegrown talent and 202-game Carlton veteran, is still a force in the GVL as he helps guide Echuca towards the defence of its 2023 flag.
“They are a must-see opportunity for what is a very important occasion.”
Mr Gloury said the event would be a special opportunity to support the family of popular local Trent Horneman, who died recently at the age of 41.
“This fundraiser will be an opportunity to celebrate his life in a way which captures Trent’s own happy and friendly personality — with a fun night out,” Mr Gloury said.
“Our community has been very generous in supporting this fundraiser, donating many items towards our major raffle and auction items.
“Our businesses have also got behind the cause donating a range of items and Stumbling North have even donated their band for the night.
“It is incredible how Trent was so well connected in the community.”
Tickets for the evening, which includes a wonderful two-course dinner, are $75 and all proceeds from the evening will go to the cause.
