Putting you at the door of the Echuca Historical Society Museum, it is the only place you can get the whole Echuca story.
Echuca Historical Society president Dot Hammond said the museum was the heartbeat of not just the port, but all of Echuca-Moama and surrounds.
“The museum and its gun team of volunteers have pulled together all the threads of the stories that are the true fabric of our joint communities and presented them through regular exhibitions, in digital format and as part of our permanent displays,” Ms Hammond said.
“And we think it goes way beyond being a look-and-learn museum – through features such as our exhibitions; with the current one being run as a ‘temporary’ travelling show covering the stories from the Australian Maritime Museum.”
The show Remarkable – Australians and their Boats introduces visitors to early users of legendary waterways both coastal and inland and, in the case of the Murray, Goulburn, Campaspe and Darling rivers, the people who founded Echuca-Moama and then pressed on to unlock more of the country.
With the whole family welcome – including four-legged friends – visitors can enjoy some of the more tangible exhibits and entertainment the museum has on offer.
However, the museum asks that pets are secured on leash in their backyard.
Ms Hammond said there were plenty of places for young ones to stretch their legs – and imaginations.
“Children can follow the trail of our treasure hunt, or just scamper around the yard,” Ms Hammond said.
Echuca Historical Society Museum is located close to the port precinct and opposite the aptly named Odd Captain café and coffee shop.
Official opening hours are from 10am to 2pm each day.
