The Rich River Calisthenics Club held its 41st annual competition this week and local competitors made their mark with the judges.

The competition was held at two venues for the first time with the Kyabram Plaza Theatre added to regular host venue, the Paramount in Echuca.
The competition featured clubs from Bendigo, Melbourne, Wodonga, Mildura, Narracorte, and Shepparton with a total of 484 participants across a variety of age categories.
Team and solo performances were in order and the Rich River club performed well once the finals scores were tallied.
The wins started with Rich Rivers Inters (age 14-17) side, which was the overall winner of its category, placing first in the Rods, Freearm and Dance Arrangement routines.
The seniors (age 17+) side was the runner-up on overall aggregate placing second in five of its six contested routines, while Rich Rivers’ Tinies (age 3-7) squad grabbed second placing in the Song and Dance portion of its competition.
The local Masters squad (26+) was a big winner over the contest, taking out the aggregate win after success in the Clubs, Rods, and Freearm sections, while placing second in the remaining categories, March, Aesthetics and Revue.
The club’s Subbies (ages 8-10) put in a commendable performance, placing first in Aesthetics and second in Song and Dance.
Calisthenics is a combination of dancing, singing, gymnastics and technical skills.
Participants compete in categories based on their age level focusing on a variety of athletic and creative skills including patterning, fine motor skills, strength, flexibility, rhythm and acting.
