The women played a game of pairs on Tuesday for their weekly social bowls.

The winners were the in-form duo of Katthi Maddison and Phylis MacFarlane (s) with a dominant display of draw bowling.
The Tuesday evening barefoot bowls was a washout after the heavy afternoon rain.
On Wednesday the club hosted the 60-and-over competition, attracting 112 bowlers to enjoy the excellent greens and club hospitality.
The Kyabram rink won the day ahead of the Allan Benson Rochester four. Thanks to John van den Bosch and Neil Haines for their considerable input to make the day a success.
The women are playing the early rounds of the 100-up championship. First-round winners included Jenny Fisher defeating Margaret Dowie in a high-standard match. Sue Harris overcame a persistent Pauline Humbert to advance to the next round.
The men’s 21-up president’s trophy is nearing completion, with Andrew Harris surviving a tight match against Bill Musgrove to win 212-18 and make the semi-finals. Other games are to be completed as soon as possible.
Members have travelled to several local club tournaments at Tongala, Barham, Echuca and Boort. Brian Kinnane, Ray Hanson and Russell Shawcross (s) played the two-day triples tournament held at Barham on Monday andTuesday. The overall result was a 50-50 ratio of wins and losses.
The Friday evening barbecue and practice session attracted a small roll-up. The missing member for the lucky members draw was John van den Bosch.
The Lockington Bowls Club president and members are saddened by the sudden passing of Margaret Davis in the past week. Margaret was a keen bowler and a constant contributor to the club’s wellbeing. She was enjoyable company and will be sadly missed by all. A great worker for several community organisations. Sincere condolences to the Davis and Kelly families.

On Friday, March 24 the women will stage the annual medley fours tournament starting at 9.30am. Contact Lorraine Appleby or Annie Haines for entries.
On Saturday, April 1 the Vermont South Bowling Club members will pay a visit to our club. Names are to be listed for a noon start. Two games of eight ends, which promises to be a fine day.
Rochester Bowls Club
Social bowls winners on Tuesday, March 7 were Carol Cakebread, Bev Hetherington and Maureen Gledhill, while the raffle winner was Cletus Cowan.

In third place with five shots up were A. and K. Williams, A. Gusak and B. Elliott. Runners-up with 14 shots up were K. and E. Hall, A. and D. Fiedler. In first place on 74 points was C. Hayes’ Rich River team.
A big thank you to the sponsors APIA, Australia Post and Moama RSL, and to the ladies who helped in the kitchen and provided the two-course meal after the second game.

Twenty-eight players played three games of nine ends.
The winners on 50 points were Dawn Beer (skip), Ken Hopper (3rd), nil (2nd), and Pat Benson (lead).
Runners-up with 40 points were Denise Lee (skip), Shirley McKinnon (3rd), and Janine Wolfe (lead).
Consolation prizes went to Pamela Kerr, Faye Leahy and Colin Hicks.
60-and-over
The Campaspe Valley and District 60-and-over Bowls Group held its Wednesday weekly bowls at Lockington Bowls Club on a mild autumn day.
Twenty-eight teams consisting of 112 bowlers were competing for a chook.
Three teams had won three games then rolled off to within the metre stick to decide the winner.
One team had two bowls near the jack — they were from Echuca and missed out; the other two teams had three and six bowls near the jack.
Allan Benson’s team from Rochester was second with three bowls within the metre stick from the jack.
They were Bert Smolenaars lead, Kevin Hall second, Tim Quinlan third and Allan Benson as skipper.
The winners on the day with six bowls within the metre from the jack were Les Grills’ team from Kyabram.
The team were Ian George lead, Neville Walters second, Graham King third and Bob Mason was their skipper.
Members of both teams each received a chook.
On Wednesday, March 15, 60 & over bowls is at Kyabram Bowls Club for a 10am start.

Echuca Bowls Club
The trivia night was a great success and won by a team with a great name — ‘A Little Ditty about Jack and Kitty’.
On Monday, March 6, the winners were Linda Ormando, Sue Lawler and Lisa Humphry. Runners-up were Laurie Quinn, Ros Hyde and Peter Hann.
Tuesday scroungers saw Bruce Haines as the winner and Max Clifford as runner-up.
Thursday was a lucky day for the Thorns, winning the men’s pairs.
Prickle won the raffle and, with his brother Mal, won the day.
Runners-up were John Dinsdale and Noel McMaster. Best game was played by Ivan Hicks and Trevor Liddell.
The runners-up on Monday, March 13, were Dick North with Helen and Laurie Quinn. Winners were Lisa Humphry and Knockers Nolan.
Scroungers on Tuesday, March 14, saw a three-way play-off. The winner was Jill Young and runner-up was Bruce Haines.
On Saturday, March 25, there will be a working bee at the club for our tidy up before the carnival season gets into full swing.
There is a list of jobs on the whiteboard and it would be great if everyone could contribute in some small way. Many hands make light work when there are things to be done.
The Bowls Tragics Schooners and Snags Open 2 bowl triples is on Sunday, March 19. Two lives jack will double the fun of the game. It is a 4pm start with names to Ronnie on 0448 400 051.
