The club took the opportunity to remove some of the existing turf to cover a large area outside the machinery shed. This was completed using a sod cutter generously loaned from Valley View Bowls Club.
The job was completed by several volunteers under the guidance of greenkeeper Darren Walles with the end result being an area we can take pride in.
Rochester Bowls Club reigning men’s champion Robert Clayton capped off a stellar season by winning the 21 Handicap final over Peter Stack with a display of precision bowls last week.
The final, played before a large crowd, saw Clayton at his very best. Needless to say the handicapper will look closely at his mark for next season.
Condolences to Shirley Williams and family on the passing of well-loved past member Brian Williams. The funeral is at Dookie on Wednesday.
Tuesday, April 4, is social bowls and all are welcome. Names to be in by 9.15am for a 10am start.
Serena Sholl, Di Milgate, Judy Murray and Cheryl Lethlean were the winners on Tuesday, March 28. The raffle was won by Kathy Williams.
The final game of 60-and-over was at Valley View this week.
The annual general meeting is at Echuca on April 18 at 10am, so if there is anything that members wish to bring up or discuss, please let Phil Hampson or David Murray know.
Friday bowls will be on April 14 due to Good Friday this week. It will be 2/4/2 pairs and there is a list in the foyer.
The Marg Stewart Memorial five-a-side tournament was held on Saturday and Sunday.
Big thanks to all the organisers, umpires, markers, bar and kitchen staff and the green keeper as the greens were great, although the weather was a little on the cool side Saturday but beautiful on Sunday.

Teams came from district clubs as well as further away like Mansfield, Belmont, Clayton, Wakool, Hurstbridge, Wonthaggi, Yackandanda and Redcliff.
Runner-up was the Echuca team of R. Gallagher, R. Opie, J. Dehne, K. Evans and M. Cunnington. The winners from Mansfield were L. Foots, J. Walsh, E. Smith, Y. Robinson and M. Ryan.
