The interviews are a part of the foundations Real Future’s Program which aims to better prepare students for life after school.
The mock interviews allow students to become accustomed to the job interview process.
The foundation’s project manager, Cath Elms, said the interviews are a great opportunity to bridge the gap between high school and the world of work.
“We come in and do sessions with the students on interview techniques and just prepare them for mock interviews and the world of work,” she said.
“It's a nice way to be able to bridge that gap and get those connections happening”
The interviewers are sourced from the foundation’s business community, which includes representatives from local businesses and organisations.
The interviews are then treated as a real job interview, with the representatives asking students questions they would normally ask in their line of work.
Industry consultant at Apprenticeship Support Lynda Magill said the interviews are a valuable opportunity for the interviewers and the students.
“We see it as a great way to help students get ready for the workforce and it’s just great for us to be involved,” she said.
“It also gives me an opportunity to meet with kids who might be interested in an apprenticeship so I can link them up with possible employers to contact.”
The Echuca Moama Beacon Foundation runs mock interview sessions every year with its five member schools.
The event will run from 9.30am to 1.30 pm at St Joseph’s College on Thursday, October 24.
