The kindergarten officially opened on September 21, 1974, and has continued to grow, with a total of 72 students enrolled across two groups.
According to educator Emily Davis, the preschool has changed in many ways in the past five decades.
“Over the past 50 years, Echuca Kinder Central has experienced significant milestones, including the renovation of the outdoor environment, curriculum enhancements and community partnerships,” she said.
“We’ve also embraced modern teaching practices and inclusive education to support diverse learners.”
To celebrate the milestone, an art show put together by current students is being held, along with a display of memorabilia from over the years.
For added fun, there will be an animal nursery on the day as well as face painting, silent auctions and the Echuca Moama Coffee Roasters coffee cart.
The day will bring together current students, former students and past educators, with around 100 people expected to gather in commemoration of the milestone.
Ms Davis said the students had been excited in the lead-up to the event.
“The children are very excited and have been actively involved in preparing for the celebration,” she said.
“They have been very busy preparing various artwork, creating a video invitation and brainstorming ideas to keep everyone entertained on the day. Their enthusiasm has been infectious.”
The celebrations will held on Sunday, October 13 from 10am to noon at Echuca Central Kindergarten on Anstruther St.
