Tongala handed the Steamers their first loss, 14-64 to 2-54, at Tongala Bowls Club.
Tonny skips Glenn Fields and Bradley Tinning each earned points for their side, picking up 23-13 and 24-19 wins respectively.
Robert Young grabbed the only win for Moama, his side of Tony Hawley (lead), Gregory Pettigrove (second) and Robert Young (third) earning rink points, 22-17.
Rochester broke its drought in the weekend pennant with a thrilling win over the previously unbeaten Stanhope.
Playing on the familiar greens of Rochester Bowls Club, the host escaped the tie with the points by a single shot, 13-68 to 3-67.
Nothing could separate skips Richard Feuk (Rochester) and Greg Fitzpatrick (Stanhope) as they drew their rink 24-all.
Stanhope’s Ben Fletcher helped his side towards the result with a 25-18 win, but Les Walles’ squad of Francis Keech (lead), Kevin Burrow (second) and Don Gillies (third) were the heroes for Rochy, with its 26-18 victory just enough to secure the overall result.
Echuca kept Rich River winless, downing the host 14-61 to 2-52 at Rich River Bowls Club.
Skip Keith Hewitt provided a bright spot for his Rich River side, winning 18-16 in his rink, but Steve Cunnington and Jim Ferrier had strong victories in the remaining rinks to secure victory for Echuca.
Deniliquin was well on top against Mathoura, winning all three rinks in a 16-75 to 0-37 result.
Skip Stephen O’Brien had the biggest win for Deni, 27-12, followed closely by Simon Chisholm at 26-12.
Shaine Laing also earned points for Deniliquin, 22-13.
Division two
A local showdown went down to the wire as Deniliquin edged Deniliquin RSL 14-53 to 2-52.
Brian Kemnitz had a big win for Deniliquin, 29-16, while teammate David Hessel eked out a closer victory, 15-13.
It was a round for one-shot thrillers as Rich River picked up victory by the narrowest of margins, sneaking by Echuca 12-59 to 4-58.
Dennis Demeo’s rink proved the difference for Rich River, his 25-18 victory outweighing Echuca’s efforts in the other two rinks.
Stanhope was able to get the better of Rochester in division two, prevailing 14-69 to 2-48.
The majority of the margin came courtesy of Jennifer Crilly, who skipped Stanhope to a 27-15 win in her rink.
Anton Gusak scored the lone rink win for Rochy, 17-15.
Moama dominated Tongala, posting a big win, 16-84 to 0-52.
Skip Russell Kelly ran up the score for Moama, winning 35-12, while Trevor Eastwell (27-22) and Colin Hayes (22-18) also earned valuable rink points.
Division three
In division three, Rochester took down Lockington 14-64 to 2-56. Skip David Murray was narrowly the best performer for Rochy, winning 21-16.
Echuca proved too strong for Moama Black, 14-64 to 2-55, John Brown leading his side to a dominant 27-12 win.
Mathoura got past Rich River 14-65 to 2-45 thanks to a strong performance from skip William Brander, who took his rink 29-12.
Moama Green proved too strong for Deniliquin. Skip Laurie Campbell the top performer in the 16-69 to 0-45 victory,
The result between Elmore and Deni RSL was declared a draw with no scores recorded.
Division four
The newly formed Mathoura-Echuca couldn’t earn a win first up in division four, going down 16-83 to 0-44 to Lockington.
Rich River overpowered Echuca 14-65 to 2-48, while Stanhope prevailed over Ky Valley View 15-60 to 1-47 and Moama defeated Tongala 16-75 to 0-42.
Division five
In division five, Lockington struggled against Deni RSL, falling 14-51 to 0-22, while Rochester was also unable to take a rink, going down to Stanhope 4-44 to 0-35.
Echuca was too good for Elmore, 14-45 to 0-37, and Deniliquin had a close victory over Moama, 12-47 to 2-43
