The club hosted an interclub game on Saturday, October 26, taking on Bendigo in a slate of games.
Moama Echuca’s mixed, juniors and men’s teams all took on the visitor at Brick Alley in Moama in a series of friendly matches of touch rugby league.
“(There was) a good turnout and everybody had a really good time,” Moama Echuca president Les Dicker said.
“It was pretty competitive with some of Bendigo’s better players making their way down and obviously Echuca as well provided some top-notch players, which made it quite a strong couple of matches.”
The event was the second interclub meeting between the two organisations, after Moama Echuca travelled to Bendigo in February at the tail end of last season.
The two sides are hoping to make the interclub fixture a staple on their calendars in the years to come.
Moama Echuca Touch Football Associations also runs a regular competition on Monday nights from 6pm, with players travelling from as far as Shepparton to compete.
Ten teams are competing in the spring season, with a second competition to be held in the new year.
Dickers said players gravitated to touch football as an option to keep fit during the winter sports off-season.
“It’s a really good agility sport,” he said.
“Low impact, low chance of injuries and it keeps that agility fitness up.
“We have a few football players and netball players that play the sport in their off-season to keep some fitness up and keep that agility going.”
