On December 12, she will do just that.
The Year 4 student, at Benalla P-12 Waller St Campus will have her hair cut, at school, to be used to make a wig for someone living with cancer.
Her mum, Emily, said Charlotte had spent a lot of time with a sibling at the Royal Children’s Hospital and had seen many kids going through chemotherapy.
“So we watched a couple of YouTube videos of different people donating their hair,” she said.
“And she told me that it was something she wanted to do.
“I said, if that’s what you want to do, then that’s fine.”
Emily did prepare Charlotte for the prospect of losing her hair, telling her it would not grow back quickly.
“And she said, ‘that’s okay mum, because I’m going to give someone a smile’.”
Emily said Charlotte hadn’t had a haircut in a couple of years.
“She had it cut to shoulder-length that time, and that is what she wants to do again,” she said.
“She’s really looking forward to it.
“She’s a little bit nervous because she’s got herself hyped up a bit with it, and now it’s getting closer.
“But yeah, she can’t wait.”
