Increasing from a two day event to four days, the Moosic Muster is a free event in Girgarre.
Starting on Thursday, the 13th muster has free music entertainment, a doubling of open mic time for all aspiring stars, nearly 40 workshops, a ukulele extravaganza of performances and tutorials and the Saturday night headline will be staged at the spectacular new Gargarro Gardens Soundshell.
“Showcasing the new Gargarro soundshell with a gala concert is going to be an amazing experience for all of us,” muster director Jan Smith said.
“Imagine kicking back on a balmy summer’s evening on our sloping amphitheatre lawn, with drinks and nibbles, and enjoying top-class music – and all for free.
“We’ve always been about country friendliness and having a go.
‘‘We welcome players of all ages and stages and those who just want to listen.
‘‘The muster is a brilliant opportunity to just immerse yourself in music, whatever style you may prefer.”
Incorporating music of all tastes, this festival is not one to miss.
Styles from bluegrass to folk, blues, country, pop, bush, Celtic, gospel and contemporary music, whatever your tastes are you will find fantastic performances to enjoy.
The workshops are led by expert tutors and cover mandolin, guitar, piano accordion, harmonica, banjo, double bass, violin, ukulele, tin whistle, percussion, advanced instrument techniques, stage performing skills, harmony singing, song writing, and many more aspects of performing.
The amazing “junkestra” of instruments made from recycled materials is back, along with the special Jigarre Jammin’ community jam, the ’60s sing-a-long, poetry writing, the hilarious joke competition and the Sunday gospel sing-a-long.
The free junior muster, comprising of comic characters, music, crafts, poetry and games, has always been a highlight for the youngsters and there’s even free instrument loans for those wanting to try something new.
The main muster venue is the air-conditioned Girgarre hall in Morgan Crescent with venues scattered across the town.
The only charge is for camping at the site but the fee includes three meals and full use of amenities over the entire muster period.
The highly popular Girgarre market takes place on the Sunday at the site, with visiting bands playing throughout the day.
