The men in green (142) did just enough with the bat to escape the Flames (107) who came close to toppling the league-leaders.
The partnership of Nick Dolan (32) and Archer Carlile (25) did most of the heavy-lifting in Echuca’s batting innings with Fire Brigade’s Wil Harrison and Shaun Doolan both taking three wickets each.
Conversely, only Shaun Doolan (28) and Sam Spedding (20) were able to score above 20 as Archer Carlile and Nick Dolan got it done with bat and ball, both also taking three wickets.
Stanhope (7-109) upset second-placed Rushworth (107) in their match-up, chasing down the Tigers’ modest total.
Tail-ender Joshua Newton (27) tallied Rushworth’s highest score, with Brett Pateman (18) the only other batter to come close amidst Jack Donaldson’s (3-17) tyranny.
Things looked shaky for Stanhope until captain Brad Stewart (38) and Luke Twynstra (20) came to the rescue.
Colbinabbin (185) course-corrected with a convincing win against Elmore (9-126).
The Grasshoppers batted first where multiple batters all made starts, including Jai Featherby (33), Jack Teasdale (28) and Fletcher White (27).
Elmore’s Matt Gilmour took 3-27 in the first innings before his teammates Matthew Wooley (49) and Riley Seeary (24) got the team’s total to 126, falling 59 runs short.
Moama (94) suffered from a case of holiday hangover as BLU (8-211) blitzed the Mowers at Bamawm Recreation Reserve.
Rory van de Zand (61) and Gregory Pearse (51) both made half-centuries, while Kaj Huddle took 4-31 for the visitors.
Meanwhile, Moama couldn’t get it going with the bat, with opener Jackson Groves (21) the only batter to cross 20, with Matthew Watt, Duane Johns and Kaj Huddle all scoring 11.

The league continues to look for a way to stop Cooma, with Moama the latest to fall at the hands of the presumptive minor premiers by 123 runs.
Batting first, Cooma put together a strong total of 186, led by Archer Backway (74) and Ethan Palma-Ludeman (48).
Moama’s top order had little to offer in the face of the Cooma attack, at one stage sitting at 6-17, before the tail recovered to a well-beaten, but slightly more respectable 86.
Jack Norris was the leading Cooma threat with the ball, taking 3-5.
Cooma is more than three games clear of second place with five rounds to play.
Girgarre’s bowlers were on song in a 69-run win over Leitchville-Gunbower.
The Kangaroos’ batting innings was a two-man show, featuring Steven Phillips (62) and Charles Lowe (46) as their side posted 179.
Sam and Thomas Colvin took three wickets each for L-G.
Jasper Hare (32) tried to hold up the L-G batting effort, but the Girgarre attack led by Jonathon Sherritt (4-16) and Andrew Medhurst (3-6) dismissed the visitors for 110.
Nondies moved off the bottom of the ladder with an impressive batting performance against Echuca South.
Half-centuries to Garner Smith (59) and Manik Sachdeva (50) helped Nondies set 190 in the first innings.
Kadyn Blachford was the only Swans batter that really got going in the response, Blake Dowton leading the way with the ball for N-C with 3-16, while Manik and Anantveer Sachdeva each took two wickets.
Tongala’s bowlers were in a lethal mood, removing Rochester for 89 runs.
Zac McKenzie, Jesse Jackman and Travis Johnstone each took two wickets, while the team came together to execute three run-outs.
The batting reply was mostly smooth sailing, Ryan Smith’s 33 not-out helping the Blues to the total for the loss of four wickets.
Gus Underwood C-grade Shield
Cooma (6-228) walked away with the chocolates in a high-scoring affair against BLU (202) thanks to a century by Nathan Angelino.
Angelino’s 128 off 79 balls was the only score for Cooma above 30 and included 13 fours and eight sixes, striking for an impressive 162, with a run-out the only thing stopping the young gun.
On the flip side, it was a combined effort by BLU, with Xavier Kellow (54) and Tom Isedale (39) leading the charge, but it wasn’t enough, with the Lions falling 26 runs short.
It was the Kangaroo who was mightier than the Redback as Girgarre’s (8-200) total was too much for Elmore (171) to handle.
Leighton Ironside (46) and Jayson Harrison (43 not-out) did the bulk of the scoring in the middle order for Girgarre, with Elmore’s Aaron Juffs taking 4-28 with the ball.
Juffs then scored 41 with the bat along with Dylan Chique (40) but it wasn’t enough to stop the Kangaroos’ bowling attack, led by Aled Denton’s 4-20.
Rochy (8-193) rolled through Echuca South (9-70) in their match-up, thanks in part to a stellar effort with the ball.
Leigh Hartshorne (33) and Ryan Murphy (30) were the standouts with the bat for Rochester with the Swans’ Brian Leslie and Cameron Hay taking two wickets apiece.
Hay (29) was the only notable scorer as Rochester’s Rory Harrington tore through the rest of the side, taking 5-10.
Fourth-placed Stanhope (6-180) was able to topple league-leaders Echuca (152) in their match-up, with the Lions batting too strong for the men in green.
A well-rounded batting effort from Stanhope was led by Brodie Mulcahy (33 not-out) and Jsh Densley (31) as Echuca’s captain Jye Caldwell and Jaxon Hogan both took three wickets.
Meanwhile, Caldwell was the only batter to make any notable effort in Echuca’s chase, scoring 44 while Brodie Mulcahy did it all, claiming three scalps alongside Jack Hepburn.
Peter Raglus D-Grade Shield
Stanhope’s batting proved too strong for Kyabram Fire Brigade, the Flames run down on the final ball despite setting a strong total of 185.
There were plenty of batting milestones in the match, with Jeff Turpin (68 not-out) returning late after retiring with his 50, while Brodie Boal-Ryan also made an unbeaten half-century for the Flames.
Stanhope lost only two wickets chasing down the 186 required for victory, Thomas Hepburn (50) and Jayke Fisher (52) both retiring unbeaten while Kian Verrall added 43.
Brendan Baumann came in for the final three balls of the innings, belting eight runs from them to get his side home on the final delivery.
Tongala ran through the Moama batting order, dismissing the Mowers for 63.
Baylee Letizia, Bruce Kay and Jordan Reid shared the wicket-taking duties with two each.
Couper Williams and Glenn Chantler made matching 22s to lead the Blues’ modest run chase, Williams remaining not-out as his side ran down the total for the loss of four wickets.
