Nondies won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to get on top of Tonny early and give themselves an attainable chase.
They did just that, striking in the second over through Matthew Robinson to dismiss the Blues’ danger man and captain Alex Williams for three.
Just three overs later and fellow opener Hudson Kellett was also heading back to the sheds, courtesy of a catch off Shaun Haffenden’s bowling.
The two new batsmen at the crease, Keagan Miller and Jayden Tucker, were able to establish a strong partnership for the third wicket and get Tonny back on track.
The pair got their side past 50 and looked in good standing to bat on, but a mix-up in-between the wickets brought Tucker undone, being run-out for 21.
Number five Adam Nunn looked solid alongside Miller and was able to play second fiddle while the latter continued past his own half-century.
Yet, on the cusp of 30 overs, Miller tried to take on spinner Tim Johnson and was stumped by Will Ringin, his hard-fought innings coming to an end on 65.
Despite Miller’s departure, Tonny kept in-stride, with Mackenzie Cowley and Adam Nunn reaching solid scores of their own.
Nunn fell to more of Ringin’s tidy glove-work, the keeper stumping Nunn off Zeb Ellwood for 46.
Cowley (41 not-out) and Matt Ohlsen (26 not-out) saw through the remainder of the overs, eking out the most runs possible for the Blues and finishing at 5-222.
Nondies-Cohuna got off to a solid start in their first innings, tallying 44 runs at the loss of the first wicket, with Shaun Haffenden being dismissed by Alex Williams for 11.
Just three overs later, in the 14th, Matt Ohlsen broke through twice, claiming the scalps of Sam O’Shea (32) and Broden Wishart (0) to shift the momentum.
Captain Will O’Shea didn’t last long either, Matt Ohlsen striking again to claim Nondies’ captain for three.
First drop Will Ringin, with others falling around him, toiled hard, but was caught short, leaving the crease for just 18.
Zeb Ellwood led the charge for Nondies in the middle order and alongside Aiden Konopka was able to steady the ship.
In over 33, Aiden Konopka (8) was run-out by Matt Ohlsen; the Tonny strike bowler could do no wrong.
Matt Noonan lasted just two overs when he was caught by Alex Williams for two, before Zeb Ellwood (41) was beaten all ends up by Adam Nunn just as Nondies passed the team 150 total.
Tail-enders Matthew Robinson and Kyeran Ellery were able to get Nondies through the remainder of their innings, adding a valuable 28 and 23 respectively.
In a valiant effort, the still-winless Nondies-Cohuna fell 31 runs short against the Blues, the side's only real contemporary in the 2024-25 McMahon Shield season.
This triumph means Tonny has won back-to-back games, including an impressive victory over title-favourites Echuca before the break.
