The Scouts had a busy first night back, welcoming two new members to the group, conducting a rehearsal of their flag-raising duties for the Rochester Australia Day celebrations, followed by a ‘going up’ ceremony for nine Joeys who progressed into their brand new Cub Scout section.
Alexander and Emily were welcomed into the Cub Scout section by group leader Helen Barnes and leader Cade Kindness.
The newest Cub Scouts crossed a wooden bridge as a symbol of their moving up.
The ceremony had the soon-to-be Cubs pass through a Joey Scout honour guard as they made their way across a wooden bridge, symbolising their transition from the Joey Scout section into Cubs.
After the ‘going up’ ceremony, they saw the investiture of Alexander Quinn and Emily Hewett into the Cub section.
A cake was baked for the party to celebrate Emily and Alexander’s movement into the Cub Scouts.
Emily and Alexander had the honour of cutting the cake.
The gathering concluded with a party to acknowledge and celebrate this significant moment, the two newest members cutting the cake.
The Rochester 1st Scouts Group is always looking for young people who enjoy having fun and adventure to join the Scouting journey.
