Members of the Deniliquin Fire + Rescue NSW brigade visited three Deniliquin caravan parks on Good Friday to accept donations.
Deputy Captain Les Booth said people were quite generous, and the families enjoyed the chance to learn more about the role of firefighters in the community.
“We had a fire truck with us, and the kids loved getting inside and taking a look,” Dep Capt Booth said.
“They were just having a ball.
“We were out there to try and raise some money to put to a good cause, and we’re pleased that we were able to raise $2343.60 for the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.”
Dept Capt Booth said joining firefighters this year were two community members - Own Hanson and Debbie Gazsara.
Support for the Good Friday Appeal helps the Royal Children’s Hospital deliver the best possible care to patients and their families.
It helps fund research and equipment and technology, and also helps to provide improved patient and family centred care.
The funding is also used to ensure Royal Children’s Hospital staff have access to the latest education and training.
Based on donations recorded to date, the national 2025 Good Friday Appeal tally is $23,822,792.
The Easter cheer from local firefighters did not stop there.
Two firefighters also made themselves available on Easter Sunday to escort the Easter Bunny through BIG4 Deniliquin Holiday Park.
The Easter Bunny and the firefighters were there at the request of holiday park owners Frank and Lynda White.
Instead of using the modern day fire trucks the families there got to see on Friday, the Easter Bunny rode in style in an ‘old school’ fire truck.
The Easter Bunny arrived at BIG4 on the old fire truck.
