Rodeo enthusiasts were treated to high quality McPhee’s Rodeo Company stock as well as plenty of other entertainment at the Finley Showgrounds and Sporting Complex on Sunday night.
The Finley Apex Club president Nathan Grimwood said the Pro Rodeo organisers were pleased with the attendance numbers, leading to a great event.
“Overall, it went pretty well.”
“I think we had about 2300 to 2400 people attend. I think there was a bit more, and it was a bit bigger than last year.
“It was a pretty good crowd considering the footy across the weekend and Easter races in Tocumwal.”
Finley Apex Club members worked well to put on the blockbuster event, and will now turn their focus to the Finley RiceStrippers BNS Charity Ball in May.
“Things definitely don’t stop for us, we’ve got the ball in three weeks time so we’re straight back into it.”
Grimwood said the interest in the Finley Rodeo from competitors saw the event continue well into the evening.
“We were pretty lucky. There were quite a lot of competitors, which saw action from 6pm until 10pm.”
“There was something for everyone, as kids were also treated to plenty of entertainment.
“At half-time, a trick rider did some horse tricks and the crowd loved it.”
“The MC also did an impressive job. He got some kids involved and did best mullet and best dance competitions, which the kids loved. Plenty of prizes were handed out.”
Grimwood also made sure to reiterate his thanks to the event’s sponsors on behalf of the Finley Apex Club who all helped the event run smoothly, with the VIP treatment for sponsors again this year.
“We had our VIP sponsors marquee, which went well.”
“We want to make sure to say thanks to each and every one of our sponsors, we couldn’t do it without them.”
The Finley Pro Rodeo is an official Australia Pro Rodeo Association event, and followed another APRA event in Deniliquin on Easter Saturday.
Results from both events are yet to be released.
