At the April council meeting, Greater Shepparton City Council awarded a $399,851.76 contract to Mawson Constructions Pty Ltd to construct the Grammar Park Shared Path along the Goulburn Valley Hwy, Shepparton.
The 600m, 2.5m-wide path will link Grammar Gardens Estate with Goulburn Valley Grammar School, providing a safer and more accessible route for students and pedestrians.
Works will include concrete and asphalt surfaces, drainage, fencing and earthworks.
“This new shared path is a fantastic outcome for the community, particularly local families,” Cr Sali said.
“It improves safety for students walking or riding to school and supports a more active and connected community.”
The works are set to start on Tuesday, April 29.
The works are expected to take eight weeks, weather permitting, starting at 7.30am on Tuesday, April 29, and continuing to Saturday, June 28.
During the construction period, there will be temporary 40km/h speed restrictions in place along the Goulburn Valley Hwy, from Grammar Park Estate to Goulburn Valley Grammar School, between 7.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday, with minor delays expected.
Access to schools and properties will be maintained at all times, with traffic control in place.
Motorists and pedestrians are asked to obey all on-site signage and directions.
