The program will begin with a dawn service in the Soldiers’ Memorial Gardens from 6.55am.
This will be followed by a Gunfire Breakfast in the War Memorial Hall, where a hearty meal will be served for a gold coin donation.
The main ceremony will be held in the Murray Shire Hall from 11am and in tradition will be conducted by students of the Mathoura Public School.
The students are very aware of Mathoura’s contribution to the war efforts with a Memorial Board bearing the names of all locals from World War I onwards who enlisted in the school.
They will introduce guest speakers and perform a traditional song for the audience.
This will be followed by a march to the Soldiers’ Memorial Gardens for a wreath laying ceremony.
The march will be lead by horses representing the Light Horse Brigade, and a bandsman with a drum.

Our weekend was marked by sadness, as a result of a crash at the Barmah Rd and Cobb Highway intersection.
While a local man escaped major injury, you can’t help but feel for the occupants of the other vehicle.
The current upgrade being carried out on Barmah Rd should include clear notice of its intersection with the highway, even to the extent of stop signs for the protection of travellers in both directions.
I do query the length of time it took to introduce a detour around the crash scene, and the route chosen.
While Line Road was only a short distance away, people were directed a huge distance to the west on a lengthy drive to Mathoura.

What a big Saturday it was with the Mathoura Easter Fair back, thanks to the Mathoura Events Committee.
Mathoura Football Netball Club’s famous Duck Race was another popular event over the weekend.
Held at Picnic Point on Sunday, there were big prizes up for grabs.
Tickets could be purchased from club members at the fair for just $5 each if you were early, otherwise a trip to the Point was the way to go.
A total of 1500 ducks took to the water in the big event, and there were plenty of people to keep an eye out for them.
Nick Chappell collected first prize, Alby Fabri second, Olivia Attoni third and Lewana Moon had the ‘lucky last’ duck.
The club extends its thanks to the fair organisers, the Mathoura Events Committee incorporating Mathoura Easter Fair, for its generous donation of food, drinks and the use of its cool room during the event.
