The Steam locomotive A2 986 made the journey from Bendigo to Echuca on Saturday, passing through Huntly, Elmore and Rochester along the way.
The journey was part of the Bendigo Steam Weekend held over the Easter holiday.
The 107-year-old train departed Bendigo on Saturday morning and arrived in Echuca at 11am.
Locals had the chance to hop on board as the train then did two shuttle runs during the day along the Campaspe Plains towards Rochester, before returning to town and departing back for Bendigo at 4.30pm.
It also completed a journey from Melbourne to Bendigo and back again.
The A2 986 locomotive is more than 100 years old, with decades of work done to restore it to full working order. It was built at the Newport Railway Workshops and entered service in 1915.
The train was in action until 1963, when it was pulled from service.
It sat idle for more than 20 years before it was selected for restoration to full working order in 1986.
Work was done on the locomotive for almost three decades, and in 2014 a fire was lit in the firebox for the first time in 50 years.
Eighteen months later, A2 986 moved under its own power for the first time since restoration began.
The locomotive was officially re-launched with a special tour to Warragul and Traralgon in May 2017.
