Echuca Junior Football Club will have 11 teams spread across the four age groups — under-10, 12, 13 and 15 — involved in two divisions of the Goulburn Murray Junior League.
The under-10 and under-12 teams will be involved in the Murray division, which will pit them against Echuca United, Moama, Leitchville-Gunbower and Lockington-Bamawm United.
In the under-13 and 15 competitions, the Echuca teams are in a Central division, which includes Shepparton-based teams Shepparton United, Notre Dame and Mooroopna. They will also tackle the Murray-based teams.
There will be a minimum of 13 rounds of the season, with breaks for the school holidays.
Echuca Football Netball Club is marking the start of the new season by staging a parents’ day on Saturday from 12.30pm at Victoria Park for parents of all players.
It is a get-together with some finger food and refreshments in the Haw Pavilion and will follow into the evening with a hypnotist appearing at the club after the senior match.
The senior club’s under-16 team has a bye this weekend, which has club officials planning for the under-13 and 15 teams to play their matches at the same venue as the senior team.
The under-15 team is expected to be playing at 9am and the under-13 game is scheduled for after the senior match.
The under-10 and 12 teams are expected to play on Friday night at Victoria Park, with the under-13 and under-15 teams playing predominantly on Sundays.
The under-10, 12 and 13 competitions finish with a gala day at the end of the season, while the under-15 teams will have a chance to play finals for the first time since 2019.
Auskick starts at Victoria Park on Sunday at 9am, with registrations still available via the Echuca Football Club Auskick Facebook page.
