Local photographer Leanne Pickens’ photograph of a farming scene at sunset near Nanneella is now the backdrop for the team’s new Facebook banner and profile picture, as well as their other supporting documents in the future.
“We think this new look really captures the nature and culture of our community we are working with,” RELDAT member Crystie Ballard said.
The team called for community members to capture and send through imagery that made the local community theirs.
Images could have included events, buildings, landmarks or locations.
Of the 38 entries from 11 people, from locations across Rochester, Elmore, Nanneella, Lockington and Timmering, Leanne’s image took the cake.
But for her, this photo was just one of the many photos she has always loved taking.
‘‘Sunsets and sunrises and even nature shots are the best to take,’’ she said.
‘‘I started off taking photos of flowers and someone suggested I should take photos around Rochester, so I did.’’
Leanne developed an interest in photography at high school, but it was those Rochester photos that caught people’s attention.
‘‘People wanted copies, so I set up a stall at the Rochester Market and started selling my images on postcards and I’ve been doing that ever since,’’ she said.
