A semi-trailer containing 20,000 litres of ethanol was destroyed in a fire at Moama on Sunday.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Hillside Rd at 11.37am.
A NSW RFS spokesperson said a grass fire around the site resulted from the inferno, with fire crews defending surrounding properties and trucks on site.
Brigade crews from Moama, Thyra, Womboota, Mid Murray, Mathoura, Echuca and Rochester were in attendance.
They were joined by Fire and Rescue NSW staff from Moama and Deniliquin.
Murray River Council supplied two bulk water trucks to assist fire crews, who had the incident under control within two hours while Hillside Rd was closed to traffic.
Fire crews later in the day revealed they saved the truck.
