General manager of the family-owned regional Victorian Beechworth Bakery, Echuca local Beck Bachelor said this year’s celebrations would be week-long.
She shouted out a huge thank you to all the locals, regular customers and staff for their incredible support and smiles at the bakery for the past 21 years.
“We’ve got our beesting sale on Monday to Friday, and then we have our pie sale on Saturday and Sunday,” Beck said.
“On Friday we’ve got our local radio station coming, and a birthday cake celebration with customers, and I believe we have a birthday dress-up theme for the staff as well. So come along and join the party.”
Beck has been with the Echuca Bakery for nearly 15 years, starting as a team member when she finished high school.
“I am from Echuca, and something I like about my story is that I’ve been able to pursue a career regionally — you can still have a career in regional Victoria, and there are opportunities locally in Echuca-Moama,” she said.
“I went away to uni and came back and worked during uni holidays,” she said.
“I’ve been able to work within the business in varying roles: I’ve worked as an operations assistant, I worked as an HR manager, as an operations manager, and then 12 months ago I became general manager.”
Before the current bakery operated on the site, the historic building was an ironmonger, a garage, as well as a completely different bakehouse. It’s in the past 21 years that the iconic building has become a meeting place for many locals and tourists.
“Before even working here, we’d come down and get a caramel slice nearly every day,” Beck said.
“It’s just the place you go to for your treats and cravings, and we always pride ourselves on being a place where people can come and relax, as a home away from home.
“It’s a space where people can meet up with family, friends, loved ones, that’s regular and reliable.”
Beechworth Bakery Echuca will be celebrating its 21st birthday from September 12 to 18.
The bakery will be holding its famous beesting sale (buy one beesting and get a second for 10c) from September 12 until 16, and a pie sale (buy one Beechworth steak pie and get a second for 10c) on September 17 and 18.
