The store donated $1 from every pizza sold on Saturdays in June, and also sold about 700 raffle tickets at $2 each — with Cheryl Henshaw taking out the prize of two large pizzas, garlic bread and 1.25 litre drink every week for the rest of the year.
“Everyone should be encouraged to get behind the pinnacle of our town, we would fall apart without a decent hospital,” Domino’s Echuca's owner Jarrod Burke said.
“We had quite a few return customers coming in specifically on the Saturdays for the fundraiser and some people bought two or three pizzas rather than one, or just gave a donation to the cause.”
Mr Burke thanked his team for their work during the month, including his wife Bridget.
Kagome was also a vital part of the fundraising effort, contributing its pizza sauce free to Domino’s for the month.
ERH medical day treatment manager Lyn said she appreciated the support of the businesses, with a total contribution of $3122.
“It not only gave the project some publicity, you also are giving back to the community,” she said.
“It’s a big commitment you’ve undertaken to do this fundraising.
“It will help us build and fit out a really beautiful and functional cancer and wellness centre for the community.”
The fundraising effort for the new ERH Cancer and Wellness Centre has now surpassed $350,000 of the $1.3 million goal.
