The previous outdoor eating area has been revamped, with students now able to enjoy artificial turf, new tables and chairs, a large shade sail and a new ‘buddy chair'.
“The new buddy chair is if students don’t have a friend they go to the buddy chair and someone can ask to them to play,” junior school council co-ordinator and teacher Melissa Cassetta said.
The official launch last Thursday coincided with international Outdoor Classroom Day, with students from all year levels participating in the event.
Ms Cassetta said throughout the day different classes went outside to work, with students completing their reading, writing, maths or science work in the sunshine.
She said the junior school council also made a scavenger hunt for classes to enjoy, with students having to find objects around the school yard.
“The international event aims to promote kids to be outside more ... it's fun to learn outside rather than always in the classroom,” Ms Cassetta said.
“Hopefully we will do it again next year and we are hoping that teachers take their students out a bit more regularly.”
