The site will be at the front of Westpac near the Hare Street intersection, with closures of Pakenham between Hare and Nish streets.
The closure is to allow urgent work to be completed, with a sewer main being realigned.
A routine inspection discovered a section of the sewer main at risk of failing.
Coliban Water manager of customer operations Steve Dunlop said work had to be undertaken immediately to rectify the problem.
“Our proactive camera inspection program showed that this sewer main has significant corrosion and poor structural integrity,” he said.
“That’s why we need to carry out these relining works immediately to ensure there is no interruption of sewer services to the community.
“These works will no doubt be an inconvenience to businesses and locals in Echuca, however the urgency of these works is a case of short-term pain for long-term benefit.
“Our priority is to ensure ongoing provision of sewer services to our customers, which means that leaving the sewer main in its current condition is not an option.”
Work will take place between Tuesday and Friday, with a section of the road to be closed on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as Tuesday March 2.
Sewer services will not be impacted.
“The relining works are carried out by our contractor Interflow, who plan to use a spiral bound plastic system to reline the inside of the pipe,” he said.
“This will give it structural integrity for the next 60 years.
“I apologise for the short notice we have provided the community and we hope to complete these works as quickly as we can.”
