The Steamers demolished Castlemaine 18-123 to 0-54, earning a colossal 69-shot win on Saturday afternoon that lifted them to first place.
Three Moama skips had scores above 30 shots on Saturday in a spectacular display of bowls from the hosts.
Kevin Anderson had the highest score on the day for Moama, with his team of lead Jacob Brighton, second Cass Millerick and third Ashley Vesty collecting an eye-watering 39 shots — the highest score across division one so far this season.
The massive score was more than enough to earn victory, with the quartet cruising to an emphatic 39-16 triumph against Gregory Brain.
Steamers skip Kevin Brennan also had an impressive 23-shot win, prevailing 32-9 over Castlemaine’s Lachlan Darroch.
Scottish superstar Alex Marshall was in fine form too, earning a 32-15 shot win for Moama on his rink.
It has been a perfect start to his Steamers pennant career for the legend Marshall, who has won all three of the rinks he has skipped so far.
Bradley Campbell rounded out the clean sweep for the Steamers on Saturday thanks to a 20-14 triumph on the final rink.
Campbell has enjoyed a great start to the campaign as well, skipping his rink to six victories in seven games so far.
The Steamers have been one of the highest scoring teams this season and they have now hit the 30-shot mark six times in total this season.
Only two other teams — Golden Square (three times) and Bendigo (twice) — have done so more than once.
The dominant performance sees Moama move into top spot on the division one ladder, ahead of last season’s reigning premiers South Bendigo.
The two teams are tied on 118 points, with the Steamers ahead thanks to their superior score percentage.
