Singer Eric Carmen, who was known for hits Hungry Eyes and All By Myself, has died aged 74, his wife has announced.
The US star rose to fame with the pop band the Raspberries before establishing himself as a solo artist with hit tracks including song Hungry Eyes, which featured in the 1987 film Dirty Dancing starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze.
Other huge solo hits include 1975's All By Myself, which features in the Bridget Jones film franchise, Never Gonna Fall In Love Again a year later and Make Me Lose Control in 1988.
"It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen," a statement from his wife Amy said on the singer's official website.
"Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend.
"It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy."
She ended the statement with the quote "Love is all that matters ... faithful and forever" from his 1977 solo album Boats Against The Current.
