The artists are opening an Easter “pop-up” art studio and gallery at the RSL Hall on Mangan St from April 2-5.
Hosting a series of free art workshops for children and adults alike, Tongala Street Artists hopes to awaken people's creative spirit and showcase the town's vibrant art scene.
The free workshops will run from 10-11.30 am for children, before adults can begin creating from 1-4 pm.
Tutor Murray Ross said this was a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wanted to give painting a go.
“We see it as an opportunity for us to help those who would like to try painting,” Murray said.
“Beginners are encouraged to join in in creating, who knows, another masterpiece, but it’s also just a pleasant way to unwind.”
Adding to the long-weekend affair, the group will also conduct tours around Tongala, with a focus on more than 50 murals painted on local buildings.
Each with a story to tell, including that of the town’s history and culture, the tours are a great way to immerse oneself in the local art scene.
After moving out of its shopfront in the main street, Tongala Street Artists are keen to establish a more permanent studio and information centre in town, and are seeking support from Campaspe Shire to find a suitable venue.
“The street art project has had an impact on the businesses in town which we would like to continue to develop, and at the same time offer the ability for local artists to be creative,” the group said.
Morning tea will be available after each workshop, while artwork created by the artists will also be on display and for sale on the day.
