Bupa Aged Care Echuca new general manager Mary O’Neill said regular activities on offer are “vital” to the residents for every aspect of their wellbeing.
“I don’t think people can underestimate how important having these activities, having something to go to is,” she said.
“It helps in every way their mental, their physical, their social, it’s an all-rounder . . . They just brighten up.”
Bupa Echuca has a wide range of activities on offer, catering to every taste, ability and mood - ranging from art and craft groups to gardening and exercise, with many more available on demand or in conjunction with special events.
“We’ve got weekly activities, we’ve got daily activities too, so four or five activities a day,” Ms O'Neill said.
The team is always enthusiastically on board for new suggestions and options, so there’s never a risk of boredom or a gap in interests.
For Seniors Festival, the team has a whole host of exciting and new activities planned to celebrate residents and the wider senior community.
They will be hosting an afternoon tea celebration for the residents as well as extra activities, including macrame craft key ring making, garden pot painting and cooking classes.
Residents will also be able to enjoy a Zoom music concert on October 5, as well as two other special events, including a group bus trip to the local gardens and a barbecue lunch.
“I absolutely think celebrating Seniors Week is important to the residents . . . it highlights what’s going on outside their own world,” Ms O'Neill said.
“All of these things are important . . . we celebrate anything and everything we possibly can.”
