In that time, the club has raised more than $5000 for the Kids with Cancer Foundation through its Christmas tree star fundraiser.
“Usually we would put a tree up in town and get people to purchase a star,” Tongala Lions Club member Murray Ross said.
“But because of COVID-19, we couldn't do that last year so we opted for a battery drive instead.”
Regardless of the form of fundraiser, the Lions still managed to donate $1000 to what they believe is a "worthwhile cause".
Kids with Cancer Foundation Victoria marketing manager Eric Watson said the foundation was grateful for the Lions Club's continued support.
“We are proud of the work organisations, such as the Tongala Lions Club's efforts, in supporting our cause,” he said.
“We want everyone to know 100 per cent of all raised funds go straight to the families who need assistance during such a tough time.
“We not only help pay for research and equipment in hospitals, but we are able to help parents who may have had to give up work to be home with their sick child and assist with helping pay bills or anything along those lines.”
Mr Ross said the Lions Club would continue to support the cause.
“We want to get our Christmas tree up again this year and I encourage everyone to come out and buy a star to help these kids,” he said.
“This really is a brilliant cause and we want to give a helping hand wherever we can.”
