The event saw hundreds of students from around the region attend to learn from industry experts about possible career paths in agriculture, horticulture, agtech and agribusiness.
The News’ Nicola Ceccato went down to the University of Melbourne Dookie Campus to chat with some of them about what they want to be after graduating from high school.
Here’s what they had to say.
Milly Morris, Year 9, Galen Catholic College Wangaratta
“Probably go to university and see where that takes me.”
Stella Beyer, Year 12, Mount Lilydale Mercy College
“I’m hoping to work on a farm, possibly with cattle, otherwise perhaps the sheep industry in maybe NSW or something.”
Oscar Knight, Year 12, Mount Lilydale Mercy College
“After I graduate I’m going to hopefully go to Longerenong College, and do some courses there and I have a passion for ag and getting out on the farm and doing what I love doing.”

“I’m probably going to do outdoor leadership or something in that sector.”
Marly Burston, Year 10, Euroa Secondary College
“Become a manager of a sheep and cattle farm.”
Indiannah Stewart Lovell, Year 9, Greater Shepparton Secondary College
“I don’t know what I want to do yet, but I liked learning about the Indigenous foods at the careers day today.”
Charlie Kafarela, Year 11, Cathedral College Wangaratta
“I am hoping to get a heavy diesel mechanic apprenticeship with Caterpillar and maybe go up north and work on a few cattle stations as well.”

“Definitely go to uni probably Charles Sturt University, and get a bachelor in ag and go from there.”

“I possibly might be interested in a career in agriculture after I go to uni, I’m interested in the technology side of it.”

“I want to go into broadacre cropping.”

“I want to become a veterinarian to help animals.”

“Originally I wanted to be a nurse but now I’m thinking I might move into livestock handling.”
