Right now, is a great time to plant long day onions like Creamgold, around the date winter solstice June 22, as the bulbs will start to develop as day length increases.
The Corowa Community Garden actively seeks to assist people become more self-sufficient by having a go at growing their own produce.
There are many generous people volunteering their time to assist in tending the garden. The team was very hard at work in the lead up to winter to get it planted up with winter greens.
Unfortunately, volunteers have been disappointed to arrive at the garden on a number of occasions to find that someone has been through and stripped the vegetable patch.
We welcome everyone in the community to visit the garden to pick something for a meal and we simply ask that people harvest mindfully, because it is a shared community garden.
The garden team welcome people to drop in on a Tuesday or Thursday around 10am if there is something you wish to learn about growing your own produce or if you would just like to come for a cuppa and a chat.
This is a welcoming group of volunteers from diverse backgrounds who are also open to suggestions from the community about how to improve the garden or to contribute ideas for workshops.
