The largest education, training and employment expo is back in northern Victoria, and this year, they’re doing things a little differently.
Regarded as much for its connection of regional students and citizens to education and employment as for its showcasing of local businesses and trades, the spectacle that is Careers Day Out is here.

With more than 2200 registered attendees, event organisers said it’s looking to be their biggest Careers Day Out yet.
Case in point, more than 80 exhibitors have signed up to wow visitors at their stationed areas across Shepparton’s Wodonga Tafe, formerly known as DECA.
Previous Careers Day Out’s have been raging successes for the region and event co-ordinator Hannah Ryan is excited to exceed all expectations at this year’s expo on Wednesday, May 10 and Thursday, May 11.
“We’ve organised our curated ‘hubs’ and areas dedicated to certain types of careers and industries so students can explore the variety of job opportunities available,” Hannah said.
Hubs include:
– Health Hub Co – sponsored by GV Health, University of Melbourne and Yarrawonga Health
– Arts and Creative Hub
– Think Tank
– Hospitality Hub
– Farming and Agriculture Hub
– Building, Construction, Warehouse and Logistics Hub
– GOTAFE Hair, Body and Beauty Hub
– Sports and Fitness Hub
Hannah said 27 schools region-wide are among those registered and she hoped the expo would spark interest and excitement for the students’ future pathways.
However, the day is not just for current students.
“From past students to parents looking to re-enter the workforce, career changers and those wanting to up-skill, they’ll all have the opportunity to explore and interact with exhibitors and participate in career orientated activities,” Hannah said.
Workshops, demos and talks will be featured by TAFEs, universities, industry associations, employers, employment and support agencies, and emergency services.
In addition to exploring prospective grinds, sponsors and suppliers have been encouraged to entertain the masses with interactive displays and activities.
This year’s sponsors include GOTAFE, Wodonga TAFE, GMLLEN, Greater Shepparton City Council, The Apprenticeship Factory and GV Health to name a few.
Event-goers can fly a drone and see what activities the CAF Consulting team get up to, have a go at driving a forklift with Wodonga TAFE, or see if they’ve got what it takes to be a Watters electrician using their interactive activity boards.
With options aplenty and diverse interests piqued, no two Careers Day Out’s will be the same.
All share one commonality, though – kickstarting one’s career journey is only an expo away.
