In 2015 Caitlin Harnett and the Pony Boys formed and have since played a number of shows around Australia, been on two USA tours with SUSTO and The High Divers and have supported the likes of Tony Joe White, Hurray For The Riff Raff, The Nude Party and The Felice Brothers.
Following the successful release of their critically acclaimed LP Late Night Essentials, Caitlin Harnett and the Pony Boys have been carving out their own rabid fanbase and a reputation for raucous live shows, seeing them as the winners of Best Live Act for NSW 2020 at the National Live Music Awards.
Late Night Essentials was recorded live over a day in the living room of Joseph Ireland (The Middle East, Joseph Liddy and The Skeleton Horse); layered with saxophone and jangly electric guitars, Caitlin Harnett and the Pony Boys are reviving 70s Americana in all its glory, but with a modern twist.
“Her voice is like Mazzy Star’s Hope Sandoval was jerked out of a long sleep,” The Guardian said.
“Lush, Americana-style folk tunes, jangling guitar and a whole lot of honesty,” is how The Sydney Morning Herald described it.
“In particular circles around Sydney the name Caitlin Harnett is spoken in revered tongues, like the whispered password to a music scene Illuminati. Learn the handshake, feel the twang and order a round,” Dave Ruby Howe from Triple J said.
Caitlin Harnett and the Pony Boys will be playing both on the main stage at the festival and at the sideshows aboard the Pride of the Murray paddlesteamer.
