Starting during COVID-19, the hay bale trail was developed so that people visiting the town had something to do and look at, which in turn became a big hit in the community.
This year the hay bale trail is going to be combined with a town-wide Christmas lights competition.
“The hay bales will be within walking distance of the main street of Tongala,” Tongala Development Group Inc president Jason Kelley said.
“They will be decorated with a Christmas theme, with some also being an ode to 100 years of Disney, to entertain the kids.
“The Christmas lights competition is sponsored by Tongala businesses, with prize money for the best Christmas lights in town.
“It is to encourage people to come into Tongala, wander around the hay bale trail, then stay for a meal and view the Christmas lights.”
To search out all the hay bales on the trail there will be a map available on the Visit Tongala Facebook page or on https://tongala.com.au/hay-bale-trail/
