Rochester’s Christopher Jansen might need to get tested for leather poisoning after collecting a league-best 42 touches for the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Jansen had a game-high 42 possessions at Moon Oval — 18 kicks and 24 handballs — the most disposals of anyone across the Goulburn Valley League this season.
He had a massive 15 clearances on the day — more than twice as many as anyone else on the field — as well as 10 inside 50s and seven tackles, both the most of any player.
Jansen had 19 handball receives on the day, but the Tiger also earned his stripes in the contest, collecting 18 contested possessions and 18 ground-ball gets — both game highs.
His big day out should come as no surprise, with Jansen in fine form this season. He has had more than 20 touches in each of the 12 games he has played in 2022, including another 40-possession game against Shepparton United back in round four.
He is by far the Tigers’ leading contested ball getter this season with 135 contested possessions — 49 more than Shaun Atley in second — and sits just behind Jordan Harper in total disposals, with 304 to Harper’s 306.
He is third overall in the GVL for centre clearances and in the top 10 for contested possessions and ground-ball gets.
Jansen wasn’t the only Tiger to feast against Benalla during their 99-point win over the Saints, with his Rochy teammates Atley and Harper collecting 36 and 35 disposals respectively.
