Kane Morris’s size and strength caused havoc for Shepparton Swans in Echuca’s lopsided 102-point win, with the Murray Bombers talisman utilising size mismatches down forward and in the ruck to great effect.
Morris booted 3.2, won 23 hitouts and tallied 20 disposals in a dynamic performance, one that was only outdone by Kyabram counterpart Zac Norris.
Norris was pivotal in the Bombers’ 22-point win over Tatura, not content to just win 29 tap outs he also imposed himself around the contest, notching a game-high 16 contested possessions and 13 clearances.
Norris leads the GVL with the most contested possessions so far this season.
Another key cog in the Bombers’ win was 250-game defender Jason Morgan, who showed he has aged like fine wine with a league-high eight intercept marks and five contested marks.
Back at Victoria Park, former AFL man Sam Reid continued to assert himself down forward and through the middle of the ground with 28 disposals, three goals, 11 tackles, and nine contested possessions.
Moving across to Deakin Reserve and despite Rochester slumping to 0-4 in the Tigers’ 11-point defeat to Shepparton Bears, Joe Atley was once again the shining light in what has been a tough start for the club, collecting 27 disposals, 13 contested possessions and 10 clearances in a defiant stand.
This comes after back-to-back returns of 33 disposals in rounds one and two, and 29 disposals and 10 clearances against Echuca in round three.
