At the Moama Bowling Club, that’s catered for — all day, every day — through its barefoot bowls sessions.
Since first offering this Aussie classic on The Greens in 2018, the club’s doors have kept swinging thanks to barefoot bowling’s accommodating nature.
“The main drawcard of barefoot bowls is simply just being able to relax and have fun with your family and friends in a fun, family-friendly environment,” sports venue manager Kevin Anderson said.
“It is fun for people — young and old, fit or just fun-loving — making the most of our facilities and getting down with some barefoot bowls.
“It’s a combination of a great venue, fantastic atmosphere and friendly competition that makes this pastime a hit with people from all backgrounds.”
By offering the barefoot option, Mr Anderson said Moama Bowling Club was aiming the spotlight on the sport for all to see.
And for those who’d like to try it but don’t know how, there are plenty of friendly faces at the club ready to help beginners get rolling.
“The idea of barefoot bowls is to offer a service to showcase the sport of bowls, we don’t specifically target barefoot bowlers as new members,” Mr Anderson said.
“However, if anyone takes a love for the game, we have our staff and coaches on hand here at The Greens, who are more than willing and able to give them a few hints and tips or even help them join the club as a bowler.
“Want to try bowls and have a great time with your friends? Come and play barefoot at The Greens — it’s heaps of fun and we can’t wait to welcome you.”
