Child dead, person missing after fire at unit complex

Queensland Police Chief Inspector Karl Hahne said authorities feared the missing person had also died in the fire.

"One person is still unaccounted for however, we have a strong belief that person is also in the fire scene," he said.

"I can say completely that for the next few hours, maybe in a couple of days, there will be an ongoing investigation."

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed a third person was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital in a stable condition.
